{how to: quick knotted updo}

It's wedding season!
And that means... lots of beautiful hair, and you don't want to be stuck having the same hair for each different event. This is a super duper quick easy updo just about anyone can do. I obviously have long hair right now with my extensions, but I used to do something very similar when my hair was MUCH shorter, so play around, this will work for hair about shoulder length or longer.

*The finished product*

And remember, it doesn't need to be perfect! That's the beauty of this one, and trust me, it really is super quick.

{sorry for the quality of the pictures, my phone was not cooperating, and I can't find my camera!}

This is what you'll need: a comb, bobby pins, hairspray {This one is Label M of London, any finishing spray will do}, and a clip {not pictured}

Start with your hair either curled, loose - tight, it doesn't matter, this is a good one for dirty hair too since a little bit of grit will help it stick together. A sea-salt spray like Davines #14 Sea Salt Primer for Wizards is an awesome spray to prep the hair to be knotted.

Section off the top -about ear level and up- and clip the top out of the way

Separate this section into two sub-sections and knot away, just a standard knot is perfect. Keep knotting until you've run out of hair. {it doesn't matter at all if there are pieces falling out} -If you'd like it to be tighter or are worried about it falling out you can start with a small ponytail, although I really don't think it's necessary.

Twist this hair around itself into a kind-of-bun and pin into place. -This could also be off to the side if you'd prefer to have an off-center, side hairdo.

Release the top section of hair and backcomb {aka french lace!} the crown of your hair for some volume. -Separate this section into two sections from side to side. -Do this very loosely because you don't want it to look separated from the top or front of your hair. Also wear a side part, center part, doesn't matter at all. Hold one sections loosely to the side and knot away again.

Pull this section of knotted hair across the top of the previously knotted bun. Pin into place. -The end of the knots should be on the opposite side that it started, or if your hair is shorter it should be going that direction.

Do the same thing to the other side. Knot away, and remember, it doesn't matter if the hair is falling off the sides of the knots {as shown!}

Pull this side over the top of the other side again. Pin into place.

DONE!!! You can go back through at this point and pin any lose pieces so it feels more secure. Finish with a spritz of hairspray!
